Joy Light of Joy Silk
Joy Light, my given name as represented in the Japanese Kanji symbol, is the pathway to my artistic inspiration. For it is only through light that we can appreciate the soothing qualities of nature’s organic images and seasonal colors.
Silk has a luxurious translucence that perfectly radiates the rich saturated colors I enjoy working with. Every item is made to order, hand painted and signed as an original work of art. May this painted light be an inspiration to you.
Joy says: “I am magnetized by color and inspired by silk, an amazingly soft, sensuous and durable fabric. I began painting silk in 1989 and have developed several lines that take their inspiration from my love of beauty and passion for creativity.”
Faith Marcus of Faith Marcus Designs
Faith Marcus was inspired by a creative muse since her youth. At age 12, she delved into the beauty, grace and freedom of ballet and studied both it and modern dance for the next seven years. This passion for self-expression would come full circle years later, as the designer resurfaced.
Designer Faith Marcus spent fifteen years in executive management and merchandising with world renowned luxury brand fashion houses Yves Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton in Paris, Madrid, New York, Miami and Beverly Hills.
Faith says: “I always loved gemstones. Drawing from my design and aesthetic background, I decided one day to create a necklace for myself. I wanted something that I hadn’t seen before, anywhere. I immediately sensed that the gemstones had healing attributes beyond their intrinsic beauty. I feel my designs appeal to elegant women everywhere. And it is my intention to empower these women through these designs.”
Justine Crane of The Scented Djinn
Here at The Scented Djinn, we do a little bit of everything. We create decadent skin-loving deeply scented — dare we say ‘perfumed’? — natural soaps, scent infused body oils, butters, balms, hair treatments. And we whip up (in about six months or more) gorgeous all natural classically styled organic alcohol-based perfumes. We also provide a fair bit of naturally derived handmade tinctures and evulsions for the beginning perfumer, as well as other tools of the trade.
But our love is with Kyphi incense. Beautiful, time and magic and love-infused Kyphi.
Hope is a former professional mascot, signmaker, thespian, and school teacher. The common thread among these roles is a passion for illuminating common yet complex issues in accessible yet unusual ways. With a degree in theatre arts, communications, and English from Simpson College, she taught, directed plays, and coached speech teams in central Iowa before returning to her roots in the suburbs of Chicago.
With more than 15 years of experience in professional services marketing, she ghost-writes and by-lines articles by day. By night, she volunteers her time and opinions far too easily and laughs really obnoxiously. She also manages to get a little writing fit in there, somewhere.
RELEASE, her debut novel, is a psychological chronicle of the downfall and reclamation of an identity and relationship in crisis. Characterized as Eat Pray Love meets Where’d you go, Bernadette, the story is set in Jaipur, India; Muang Khoun, Laos; and Sedona, Arizona, with the Midwest as its home. Peruse the first chapter of Release at http://booklife.com/project/release-2453, and learn about the author at http://www.hopenunki.com.
